-Journal #7 - What you found valuable from last day's presentation
-Looked at characteristics of Healthy / Unhealthy / Abusive relationships
-Red Flags in a relationship that indicate ABUSE
-TED talk video and YOUTUBE video - discussing abusive relationships
Next class - Quiz on relationships unit and will look at making the decision to parent

Family Studies - March 6

-All relationships at some point will experience conflict.  How you deal with that conflict will likely strengthen or weaken the relationship.
-Everyone has their most comfortable way of dealing with conflict
-We took a quiz to determine our most comfortable Conflict Handling Style.
-We discussed the 5 different conflict handling styles in terms of assertiveness and cooperativeness.
-We talked about the importance of being aware of your conflict handling style in a relationship - students completed Journal #3 and handed it in.
-We played a game "Come on Six" - will discuss how the game can relate to conflict on Monday (after our test).

Finished watching movie, "Finding Nemo"
Students were given time to work on / complete their assignments
              - those not handed in last day - due March 6
Review for Test on Monday March 9 - on all the material we have covered so far
Started reading novel, "The Glass Castle" by Jeanette Walls

Family Studies - March 2/3

-reviewed Family expectations/ rules - how they can be beneficial/detrimental
    -how it's not uncommon for families to have both spoken and unspoken expectations/rules
    -these unspoken rules can lead to problems

-discussed the concept of open/closed systems
-how open/closed systems can relate to families
-either extreme is unhealthy - finding balance in the middle is most healthy

Started to watch "Finding Nemo" - assignment for this movie is based on the 4 aspects of family life that we have looked at (Self-worth, Communication, Family rules/expectations and Link to society)
